Thought of the Week

After starting to understand Web3 last week, I vaguely felt that the rise of Web3 might be like the rise of self-media back then, which means a huge opportunity and a revolution for content creators. In order to track the continuous impact of Web3 on content entrepreneurs, it was decided to conduct a social experiment in 2022 to explore whether blockchain will bring more value to content creators.

Experiment Method: From January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022, publish the same content on independent blogs and decentralized platforms, and count the value obtained by each at the end of the experiment.

Experiment Groups: There are three groups in the experiment: old domain name, new domain name, and decentralized content platform.

Since most web3 projects are in the early stages and may die tomorrow, multiple platforms will be selected. If new platforms appear in the middle of the year, they will also be tried. The platforms currently selected are:

Mirror ⇒ A decentralized publishing platform owned by the community, which completely changes the way we share and monetize ideas.
Steemit⇒ A Chinese decentralized writing community and content ecosystem.
Matters⇒ An established decentralized writing community and content ecosystem.

Value Measurement: Undeniably, the current value measurement of content can only be monetization ability. To this end, the new domain name is connected to Google Adsense to monetize through traditional advertising. Each decentralized platform uses its own tokens or monetization methods for monetization. At the end of the experiment, convert to a unified fiat currency, US dollars for comparison.

Special Note: (1) Since I am not a professional content creator, but just a writing enthusiast who records at will, I cannot guarantee how many words I can write in 2022. Therefore, before January 1, 2022, I will upload the accumulated words to each new platform. (2) In order to prevent traffic cross-flow, the process will not be announced during the experiment, and a summary will only be made at the end of the experiment.
