Text

In 1978, 18 farmers in Xiaogang Village, Fengyang County, Anhui Province, risked their lives to press their red fingerprints and implement the “household contract responsibility system”, opening the prelude to China’s rural reform.

Today, more than 40 years later, Xiaogang Village has undergone earth-shaking changes. Rows of small buildings, spacious and clean roads, complete public facilities… everything shows the vitality of the new socialist countryside.

Walking into Xiaogang Village, you can visit the “Household Contract Responsibility System” Memorial Exhibition Hall, learn about the history of that year, and feel the courage and wisdom of the 18 villagers. You can also visit the villagers’ new homes, chat with them, and understand their current living conditions.

Xiaogang Village is not only the birthplace of China’s rural reform, but also a window to observe China’s rural development. From Xiaogang Village, we can see the great achievements of China’s reform and opening up, and we can also see the bright future of China’s countryside.
