Pilgrimage to the Three Kongs

Qufu, the hometown of Confucius, is a famous historical and cultural city in China. The “Three Kongs” (Confucius Temple, Confucius Mansion, Confucius Cemetery) are World Cultural Heritage sites and famous tourist destinations.

Confucius Temple

The Confucius Temple is a place to offer sacrifices to Confucius. It was built in 478 BC, two years after the death of Confucius. After expansions and renovations in subsequent dynasties, it has become a magnificent architectural complex, known as the “Second Forbidden City”.

Confucius Mansion

The Confucius Mansion is located next to the Confucius Temple and was the residence of the direct descendants of Confucius. It is the largest and best-preserved aristocratic mansion in China, displaying the living culture of the Confucius family.

Confucius Cemetery

The Confucius Cemetery is the cemetery of the Confucius family and his descendants. It is the largest, oldest, and best-preserved family cemetery in the world. There are more than 100,000 tombs and numerous ancient trees, creating a solemn and quiet atmosphere.
