Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is not a movie about the “Manson Family murders” but a Hollywood-mainstream story.

It tells of Leonardo DiCaprio playing a Hollywood actor, Brad Pitt as his stunt double, along with Bruce Lee, an eight-year-old child star, an aging studio boss, and a foreign director—all these Hollywood strivers working, struggling, and finding release at a time when society was shifting and westerns were fading.

Behind the glamour, every Hollywood worker carries huge pressure. An eight-year-old will skip meals to keep filming, Rick Dalton needs alcohol to numb himself, Bruce Lee must repeatedly assert himself, and stuntman Cliff Booth has to ask the lead for each opportunity.
